Call for Papers: Television Series and the Supernatural (DEADLINE July 31, 2013)

The Supernatural Studies Journal is now accepting proposals for a themed issue on television (spring 2014), guest edited by Franck Boulègue and Marisa C. Hayes.

Articles may examine any aspect of the representation of the supernatural within the context of television, past and/or present. We welcome any approach, but request that authors minimize jargon associated with any single-discipline studies.

Suggested topics include:
philosophy, folklore & mythology, politics, gender, race, sexuality, class, monstrosity, transformation and/or adaptation, hybridity, vampires, shapeshifters, ghosts and hauntings, demons and angels, heroism, villainy, desire, history and memory, power, possession and/or mind control

Additionally, we are seeking reviews of television series featuring elements of the supernatural (800-1,000 words in length), including but not limited to: The Twilight Zone, Alfred Hitchcock Presents, Dark Shadows, The Invaders, Tales from the Dark Side, Tales From the Crypt, Charmed, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Angel, Six Feet Under, The Walking Dead, Supernatural, Fringe, The Vampire Diaries, Teen Wolf, etc.

For articles: please send a 300-500 word abstract (or complete article, if available) and C.V. by July 31, 2013. All submissions will be acknowledged. Notification of acceptance will be e-mailed by August 31, 2013. If your abstract is accepted, the full article (3,000 -6,000 words, including references) will be January 31, 2014.

For reviews: please send a C.V. and description of the show/series you would like to review.
