[UPDATE] Deadline Extended for Pride and Prejudice: The Bicentennial (October 10-12, 2013)

The Ohio of Excellence Center for Collaborative Education, Leadership, and Innovation in the Arts (CELIA) in conjunction with the Department of English and the College of Liberal Arts at Wright State University invites proposals for 15-20 minute presentations to be included in its events celebrating the bicentennial anniversary of the publication of Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice.

Scheduled to take place October 10-12, 2013, these events will include:

public lectures featuring experts on Jane Austen, British literature, and Regency history and culture, including presentations by Janine Barchas, Devoney Looser, Robert Markley, and Marilyn Francus, among others

a luncheon and English tea service

opportunities for breakout discussions and workshops

theatrical performances

a Regency ball

We welcome 250-500 word proposals from faculty, graduate students, independent scholars, and all those with an interest in Jane Austen for presentations on any aspect of Pride and Prejudice, including

new interpretations of the novel

considerations of the novel's legacies and adaptations

examinations of reenactment culture and Janeites

the novel's literary, historical, cultural, and pedagogical contexts -- broadly conceived

Proposals may offer traditional 15-20-minute presentations, but we also welcome proposals for fully-formed panels as well as for presentations in collaborative and innovative formats. Please include the names of participants, contact information, affiliation, and AV needs in your proposal.
