Shane Trayers/Southwest PCA/ACA Apocalypse and Disaster in Culture

This subpanel of The Apocalypse and Disaster in Culture Area of the Southwest PCA/ACA conference is looking for academic analysis of all types of disaster, whether real or on the big screen. What do we learn from confronting disaster? Is there redemption within these examples of culture? Something else?

Sharknado's recent popularity made it possible for a sequel to be in the planning as we speak. The Impossible bases its story on real disaster events while The Day After Tomorrow speeds up global warming to alarming proportions. There are many examples of real and farfetched stories of humans verses their environment.

Submissions concerning film, graphic novels, literature, poetry or any other examples of culture are welcome.
