Call For Papers: Two-Volume Text on the Harlem Renaissance
Essays are sought for a two-volume publication on the Harlem Renaissance (HR).
Volume One (1) focuses on the literary aspects of the HR, and Volume Two (2) focuses on the performance aspects of the HR. Potential topics include but are not limited to the following areas: journals and weeklies, major and minor authors, migratory patterns/influences, interracial posturing, blackness and perceptions/notions of beauty, Cotton Club, pre-Apollo Theater, major and minor visual artists, visual portrayals and subjects, major and minor musicians, major and minor singers, musical innovations, dance styling and stylists, major and minor dance artists, et. al. The editors are particularly interested in essays that connect the historic period with aspects of the contemporary Harlem community.
Papers should be approximately 20-25 double-spaced pages and adhere to the most recent MLA Style Sheet. Final submissions will include a detailed abstract with key words.
Deadline for abstracts: February 27, 2014
Deadline for full-length essays: June 30, 2014
