American, British and Canadian Studies, the Journal of the Academic Anglophone Society of Romania, invites submissions for a special issue on Faces of Globality: American Studies and the Romanian Diaspora. The special issue looks to integrate the cultural experience of the Romanian Americans to the vast and diverse array of European diasporas in the US toward an appraisal of the range and worth of their scholarship and creative output. With this end in view, we seek an ample set of contributions across the full spectrum of theory and practice, in poetry, prose, drama, visual arts, translation, pedagogy and mixed creative or critical modes of writing. Alongside these we are seeking academic testimonials and critical essays addressing aspects regarding cultural affiliations, areas of Romanian-American specificity, established and new influence. We are particularly interested in submissions that contextualise the Romanian-American experience in the global environment, conveying first-hand representations of the 'Romanian America'. Whereas contributions need not be authored by scholars or creative writers belonging to the Romanian diaspora in the US, for consideration for publication in this themed issue, it is expected that each will approach a theme relevant to Romanian culture and American Studies. Critical essays will be introduced by a comprehensive (300-word) abstract covering scope, literature review, main thesis and methodology. Creative submissions should be accompanied by a statement of artistic intent (approx. 250 words) that outlines the influences assimilated and how the submission meets the criteria of innovation and experiment with regard to those. All submissions will be accompanied by a short author biography in the region of 150 -200 words.

Length of submissions: poetry 4-6 poems; drama up to 20pp standard format; prose and cross-genre submissions up to 5000 words; scholarly articles up to 7000 words including notes and references.
