The Age of Dystopia
Dystopia as a genre has exploded in recent years. Cambridge Scholars Publishing has expressed interest in publishing a collection which seeks to answer questions such as the following: How has the genre been treated similarly or differently by various practitioners? Why is it so popular and why has it become a trend in 'young adult' literature? At what points in literary history has the genre been this popular? What is it about our world that has prompted this explosion? How do television programs and films with a dystopian flavor approach their topics? Margaret Atwood's Maddaddam trilogy and The Hunger Games trilogy stand out for their popularity but lesser known works are welcome.
