We are now accepting submissions for an edited commissioned book titled: Approaches to Developing Ecological Consciousness in the 21st Century Classroom.

Rationale
With the many environmental challenges of the world including, global warming, pollution, erosion, deforestation and endangered species to name just a few, environmental and sustainability themes have become increasingly prevalent in the media. Literary authors have also begun to use their pens to examine how our treatment of the environment can impact our daily lives.

In light of these concerns, what is the role of instructors in developing an ecological consciousness among its students? What pedagogical tools and approaches do we, as instructors, use to engage learners in the environment/sustainability debate while at the same time developing their critical thinking? How do we as instructors, create and develop classroom communities that promote dialogue, inquiry and problem solving as they relate to environmental issues?

Although there is a growing literature focusing on environmental problems and how they affect our communities and our personal lives, there is also a need for a literature that focuses on action taken towards instilling ecological consciousness and sustainable environmental changes among students.
