The Atrium, a Journal of Academic Voices, is now in its sixth year of consistent publication. This unique journal presents a forum for the community of professionals engaged in post secondary education and research. One key focus for the journal is classroom best practices, that murky landscape we traverse between Learning Theory and Instructional Practice. The Atrium acknowledges the value of discourse in the project of uncovering the principles that might govern the development of Best Practices. Simply put, we can talk the talk, but can we walk the walk? The Atrium is meant to be a passageway of ideas and practice across the disciplines that will demonstrate how we do just that.

Our hope is that you will offer your classroom best practices as well as your research, insights, successes, and failures so that we might instigate and develop this "conversation." We also occasionally publish very limited poetry and short fiction. We offer this journal as an online forum so that this conversation can "speak" to the broad expanse of our teaching and learning communities. It is for this reason that we present The Atrium as "A Journal of Academic Community Voices." We hope you enjoy this type of environment and wander through our network of passages often!

The Atrium is a publication of English and IT faculty at Ivy Tech Community College's Northwest Region, the largest college system in Indiana. We seek to encourage communication across disciplines and between two- and four-year colleges. Articles published are those with the greatest appeal to a broad range of disciplines. The Atrium is published electronically semiannually in Fall and Spring semesters. Deadline for our Spring 2015 issue is January 1. Published work is archived on the website.
