On March 19-20, 2015, Penn English will host Locating Post-45, a conference organized around the periodizing category of the Post-1945. A term that has emerged as an organizing principle for twentieth-century literary studies, we want to probe its curious, and perhaps provisional, durability. The conference would like to generate new considerations of the locations and worldedness of Post-1945 by examining its ever-branching critical crosscurrents.

The editorial board of the College Language Association Journal (CLAJ) invites the submission of essays, poetry, short prose, short drama, or book reviews for its special issue entitled, "Hands Up. Don't Shoot: Critical and Creative Responses to Violence Toward Black Bodies in the 21st Century." All submitted works must be previously unpublished.

CLAJ welcomes submissions of essays, poetry, short prose, or drama that engage the brutalization of black bodies in twenty-first century America with a particular focus on one or more of the following:
-the militarization of the police
-the criminalization of black bodies
-the intersections between gender, sexuality, and race

For the ALA conference in Boston, May 20-24, 2015, the Catharine Maria Sedgwick Society seeks proposals for a panel on the various manifestations of single life for both men and women in fiction and non-fiction by Sedgwick and her contemporary writers. Papers might consider spinsterhood and bachelorhood, whether by choice or by default; delayed marriage; widowhood; divorce; celibacy for spiritual reasons; or any other angle on the single life as depicted in antebellum fiction or non-fiction.

Postliminium

Postliminium is the University of London's inter-collegiate student journal for the arts, humanities and social sciences. It was founded last year and the first edition was disseminated to Kings College, the LSE, Goldsmiths, Queen Mary, Royal Holloway and University College London in the summer of 2014, and we have just expanded our editorial board.​ We are now accepting submissions for our second issue, to be published early next year. This will be the final issue to be printed before the journal goes online this spring, and so those essays which are successful will be some of the first to be uploaded to the site.
