Contemporary Wars - ALA - Due 1/1/15
CALL FOR PAPERS
The Contemporary Wars
American Literature Association
26th Annual Conference
May 21-24, 2015
The Society for Contemporary Literature invites 250-word abstracts for presentations at its panel on "Contemporary Wars" at the annual conference of the ALA. The program committee welcomes abstracts on pertinent American literature published in the last 25 years.
The consequences of the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq remain under-recognized in scholarly discourse, usually sublimated to the more abstract War on Terror, and exacerbating the broader erasure of the wars from public consciousness. This panel addresses how these wars have been interpreted within the US and beyond in literature and film.
Please submit 250-word abstracts and a CV to Aaron DeRosa at email@example.com or Stacey Peebles at Stacey.firstname.lastname@example.org by January 1, 2014. Submissions should be sent via email with the subject line "Contemporary Wars abstract." Note that scholars are limited to one presentation at this conference; notifications will be sent by Jan. 25, 2015, in order to allow responses to the general CFP by its deadline.
