The American Theatre and Drama Society invites individual and panel proposals on the broad theme of "Performance and Its Publics," to be considered for the ATDS-sponsored panel(s) at the 2016 MLA convention in Austin TX (Jan 7-10, 2016).
Following the MLA's 2016 theme, "Literature and Its Publics: Past, Present, and Future," we encourage submissions that take up such topics as:
• Performance and the formation of counter/publics
• Print vs/and performance and counter/publics
• Stagings of the public
• Reception and the public
• Performance and the public intellectual
• Performance and the public humanities
• Performance and the digital humanities
The American Theatre and Drama Society welcomes individual submissions covering diverse topics and approaches, as well as pre-formed panels on drama, theatre history, or performance studies. ATDS is an organization dedicated to the study of United States theatre and drama, its varied histories, traditions, literatures, and performances within its cultural contexts. ATDS recognizes that notions of America and the U.S. encompass migrations of peoples and cultures that overlap and influence one another, thus we encourage submissions from scholars who explore these intersections or offers new paradigms for research.
Please submit via e-mail a 250-word abstract and a 1-page CV (or a set of proposals that constitute a panel or roundtable) by 9 March 2015 to Laura Mielke, University of Kansas (email@example.com).
