Proposals for 20 minute papers are invited for a One-Day Symposium to mark the 40th Anniversary of Steven Spielberg's JAWS on Wednesday 17 June 2015 from 10.00 - 6.00.

The Symposium is hosted at the Leicester Media School by The Cinema and Television History (CATH) Research Centre and The Centre for Adaptations, De Montfort University, Leicester, UK. Keynote speaker(s) TBA.

Brief proposals, biographies and a note of institutional affiliation should be sent to Professor Ian Hunter: iqhunter@dmu.ac.uk. The deadline for proposals is 31 March 2015.

We are pleased to present a call for editors for a proposed new publication, The Rising Dragon, a journal of Pacific Rim culture and media studies. We will cover topics ranging from copyright to ritual, fandom to technology, and many more besides. We take a broad view of what our mandate includes and encourage instructors and professionals from diverse fields to apply for a position as an associate editor of our new journal. The projected date for the first publication is Spring 2016.

The Sylvia Townsend Warner Society invites entries to the Mary Jacobs Memorial Essay Competition which has been instituted to acknowledge the contribution made by the late Mary Jacobs to Warner studies.
The prize consists of £200, one year's free membership of the Sylvia Townsend Warner Society, and publication of the winning essay in the peer-reviewed Journal of the Sylvia Townsend Warner Society.
Essays of not more than 4000 words on any aspect of the life and work of Sylvia Townsend Warner should be submitted to Helen.Sutherland@glasgow.ac.uk by 1 May 2015. Competition results will be announced in July 2015.

Call for Papers – etum Etum invites researchers of theatre and media studies as well as practitioners of both fields to submit papers to etum (ejournal.theaterforschung.de). This peer-reviewed, interdisciplinary, open-access e-journal publishes papers on a wide spectrum of theatrical and media phenomena.

After the successful launch of the first issue last year and the second issue this February, the editorial team is happy to announce the upcoming of the third issue. Articles will be accepted upon double blind peer-reviews.

Deadline for submissions is May 25th, 2015.

The following forms of papers are possible:

- Short articles
from 2,000 to 5,000 words.

'James Ellroy: Visions of Noir' 1-3 July 2015, will be held at the University of Liverpool and sponsored by the School of English. This conference will examine Ellroy's influence on the genre, his inspirations as a writer and his achievements in forging an idiosyncratic and unique style. We seek to foster an interdisciplinary approach in order to explore subjects such as Ellroy's reinterpretation of the history of Los Angeles and the United States, as well as the connections between genre fiction and cinema through film noir.
