Scholars are well aware of classical influences in Dante's works. And yet, to my knowledge, what is lacking is a thorough and consistent study of these influences. It is hoped that such a study will promote a better and more lucid understanding of Dante's own ideas. Without dismissing Dante's originality, this session proposes to examine the extent to which Dante's ideas were shaped by and grew within the classical tradition. This session welcomes papers that study Dante's works in light of classical influences.
