The New Voices Planning Committee is proud to announce that we are now accepting proposals for the 2016 New Voices Conference. This year's annual conference will be held February 4-6, 2016, at Georgia State University in Atlanta, Georgia, and will feature papers, panels, workshops, creative writing readings, and a poster session.
Atlanta has long been a scene of connections since its founding in 1836. As a railroad terminus location, rail lines from all four directions surged to merge in the area. These points of connections have only grown. The 2016 theme for this conference, "Connections," invites you to think about moments in English studies where connections emerge within a text, concept, or field of study. We invite proposals from creative writing, literary studies, and rhetoric & composition, as well as concentrations from other disciplines, cultures, and histories. This theme is particularly important to the New Voices Conference, as we desire to be a place of connections with students and scholars from different places.
Possible topics include, but are not limited to:
How do connections influence literature and culture?
How do views of connections change from different cultural perspectives?
 How do we utilize connections to improve the world around us?
Those interested are invited to submit abstracts for individual papers and proposals for panels or special format events (roundtables, debates, etc.), or submissions of creative writing for creative writing workshop sessions. This year, we are excited to also invite submissions for pre-conference workshops and a poster session. We are excited to announce that, in keeping with the conference's interest in forging new connections within the academic community, we will be accepting proposals from undergraduate students this year as well. By November 1st, 2015, please submit an abstract of 200-300 words and contact information to the New Voices Planning Committee via our online form (http://goo.gl/forms/9PrzT6iWza). Presenters will be notified via e-mail regarding their submission status on or before December 30, 2015
