Call for Short Articles/'Notes'

The Birmingham Journal of Literature and Language (BJLL) is an interdisciplinary, peer-reviewed journal published annually, both electronically and in print by The University of Birmingham. It includes submissions from postgraduate students, alumni and external students based in the UK, specializing in Literature and Language from all periods and cultures.

The BJLL is seeking short pieces ('Notes') for inclusion in Volume VII (2015). These can be on any topic of academic interest, including (but not limited to):

* conference and symposium reports;
* upcoming conferences and knowledge-transfer events;
* museum exhibitions and library collections;
* theatre/performance reviews;
* public engagement and skills training activities;
* short pieces of original research/'notes and queries' on an aspect of research.

Original poems and artwork are also welcomed.

Submission guidelines:

- Notes should be 800 to 1,000 words in length including all titles, notes and bibliographies.
- Notes must adhere to the formatting guidelines given below and conform to MLA citation guidelines (available online).

Formatting guidelines:

Font/Layout: Garamond 12pt; Justified (body text); Line spacing: Exactly 20pt

Referencing: Use (Author, page number) for in-text citations e.g. (Smith, 27) and include a list of works cited at the end of the article

Please do not use footnotes and only use endnotes if absolutely necessary.
