Call for Papers: Film Theory and Aesthetics
2016 Southwest Popular/American Culture Association (37th Annual)
February 10-13, 2016, Hyatt Regency Downtown / Albuquerque, NM

Proposals are now being sought for review in the Film Theory and Aesthetics Area. Review begins immediately and continues until November 1, 2015. Listed below are possible topics; other topics in the area are also welcome:
▪ Precinema, Early, and Silent cinema aesthetics
▪ Cinema in and out of the Archive
▪ Definitions of periodicity: aesthetic, chronologic, theoretical
▪ Nontheatrical, industrial, and educational film
▪ Montage and Editing: Practice as Theory
▪ History of Cinematography: Visual Effects from Silent to CGI
▪ Spectatorship and Scopophilia
▪ Auteur Theory
▪ Genre Film & Genre Theory
▪ Third Cinema and Indigenous Filmmaking
▪ Theory & Aesthetics of Representation (Race, Gender, Culture)
▪ Cinema Pedagogy: Teaching Content with Film
▪ Adaptation: Intersections of Film Theory and cultural or literary theory
