Proposal submission deadline EXTENDED: November 15, 2015

Proposals for both panels and individual papers are now being accepted for the 37th annual Southwest Popular/American Culture Association conference, Feb 10-13, 2016, at the Hyatt Regency Hotel & Conference Center in Albuquerque, New Mexico. International submissions are welcome.

The African American / Black Studies area of the conference welcomes proposals regarding any aspect of African American life, culture, performance, literature, demographics, history, law, politics, economics, education, health care, art, religion, social sciences, business, representations in popular culture, music, the diaspora, Africa, or any other issue relevant to African American/Black Studies and culture.

Paper presentations should be 15 minutes long.

For individual presentations, submit a proposal with the following items:
• • a 250-word abstract
• • current curriculum vitae;
• • working bibliography for your paper

All applicants must enter their own information and proposals into the conference database (including panel-proposal members).

Proposals for panels of 3-4 presenters are also welcome. To propose a panel, submit the following:
• • panel title;
• • name of proposed panel chair;
• • names of all proposed panel presenters;
• • titles and abstracts of each paper (each on a separate proposal form)
