21st Century Black Intellectuals: Coates and Rankine
Claudia Rankine and Ta-Nehisi Coates have emerged as the most important black intellectual voices of the 21st century. This panel aims to explore their works from a variety of perspectives. How do Rankine's "Citizen" and Coates's "Between the World and Me" reflect and respond to the tradition of black intellectual thought? What do these and other writings indicate about our current contemporary moment and a post-Obama future? Please send abstracts (300-500 words) and a brief CV by 14 March 2016 to Stephanie Li at firstname.lastname@example.org.
