[UPDATE - DATE CHANGE] Call for Submissions -- Oz Club National Convention
The International Wizard of Oz Club welcomes submissions for its National Convention, which will take place in Philadelphia on August 5-7, 2016. Philadelphia was home to Oz authors and illustrators, including John R. Neill, W.W. Denslow, and Ruth Plumly Thompson, as well as favorite characters such as Button-Bright and Peter Brown.
Anything related to Oz is fair game, and we welcome ideas about non-traditional or creative formats as well. We especially welcome proposals related to the following themes of the conference and interests of our members:
• John R. Neill
• Ruth Plumly Thompson
• W.W. Denslow
• The art of Oz
• Collecting and collectibles
• The MGM film
• The Wiz
• Maxfield Parrish
• Oz and Philadelphia
• Oz and the city
• Fandom, community, and participation
• The ongoing story of Oz through adaptations, continuations, fanfiction, translation, and transformation
The Oz Club attracts fans and collectors as well as scholars. We encourage those submitting ideas on scholarly and critical topics to tailor interesting and engaging presentations for a general audience of Oz enthusiasts. If you are proposing an individual talk, plan for a half-hour session (a 20-minute presentation plus 10 minutes for questions and discussion).
Please submit your ideas for individual presentations, panels, workshops, performances, exhibits, displays or other formats in the form of an abstract or proposal of up to 300 words to Ryan Bunch at email@example.com or submit your materials on the convention website at www.ozconphilly.com, where you can find more information about our event, including registration and lodging.
Please submit your proposal by April 15. The selection committee will make its decisions by early May.
