I am soliciting co-panelists for a proposed MELUS session on writing by and about incarceration. I originally envisioned this panel as a session about prison writing, but I am open to including papers that discuss other forms of imprisonment, including captivity or slave narratives. Papers might talk about writing about imprisonment/enslavement, teaching these issues inside or outside of prisons, how ethnic or national identity is created or complicated by imprisonment, etc.  For more on the broader conference theme, see the broader CFP here: https://melus2017.mit.edu/ The 2017 annual meeting for MELUS: Multi-ethnic literature in the US will meet at MIT in Cambridge, MA from April 27-30, 2017.  If you are interested, please send an abstract of 200-300 words and a short bio or CV to Jennifer Lieberman at j.lieberman@unf.edu by November 1.
