Special Inaugural Issue:
Spiritual and Religious Performances of Activism and Protest
The political, economic, cultural, and artistic histories of Ireland are deeply intertwined with its rich tradition of writing in Irish and English, with generations of writers greatly contributing to broader literary categories like the realist novel, European modernism, postmodernism, colonial, and postcolonial literature. Writers such as Laurence Sterne, Jonathan Swift, Oliver Goldsmith, Maria Edgeworth, Oscar Wilde, George Bernard Shaw, W.B.
This international and interdisciplinary conference will bring together a range of academics and practitioners to discuss new directions of research and discovery in Global Studies. As with IAFOR’s other events, Global2017 will afford the opportunity for renewing old acquaintances, making new contacts, and networking across higher education and beyond.

Current discussions on precarity in the Canadian academe respond to the economic structures of university labour. The increasing dependence of universities on temporary teaching staff and the paucity of “alt-ac” positions have dominated conversations about precarious labour and the changing nature of early career researchers.
Essays are sought for a collection of scholarship on the seminal twentieth-century playwright/lyricist/man-about-town Noël Coward. 1,000-2,500-word abstracts are invited for consideration on topics including but not limited to the following: Coward and style; Coward and substance; Coward and the post-Edwardian; Coward and “The Modern”; Coward and jazz-age aesthetics; Coward and class; Coward and gender; Coward and the lush life; Coward and gaiety; Coward and war; Coward and theatre/theatricality; Coward and music; Coward as playwright; Coward as lyricist; Coward as diarist; Coward as celebrity; Coward and Las Vegas; Coward, forerunners, and inheritors.

2017 Thoreau Society Fellowship
The Thoreau Society is pleased to announce the second annual Marjorie Harding Memorial Fellowship.
The Texas Center for Working-Class Studies, housed at Collin College, a two-year institution serving Collin County, is pleased to announce a one-day Working-Class Studies conference for interested scholars and students. The conference will consist of panels in a range of disciplines and on a variety of issues related to social class and labor issues, both historical and contemporary. The keynote speaker will be noted scholar Dr. David Roediger, Foundation Professor of American Studies and History at The University of Kansas. Dr. Roediger’s recent books include Seizing Freedom: Slave Emancipation and Liberty for All, How Race Survived U.S.

BFS Journal 17 is due out in January/Feburary.
The journal is a mix of articles and is keen to accept submissions from people who want to write about fantasy, horror and science fiction. Our focus is primarily the former, but our readers have interests across all three genres.
Academic articles for the BFS Journal should be between 2500 and 6000 words. We prefer nearer the former, as this is about the size of a conference paper. References in the text should be (Author, Date of Edition: Page Number) with a full publication listing for the bibliography given for each article at the end. Please don't use footnotes in your submissions.
