Submissions open for Journal Letras de Hoje
Theme: The fictional character (v 52, n.2, April / June 2017).
Guest Editors: Carlos Reis (University of Coimbra) and Luiz Antonio de Assis Brasil (Pontifical Catholic University of Rio Grande do Sul - PUCRS)
Synopsis: Starting from the statement Character is plot, attributed to Henry James, it is understood that all the elements of narrative fiction spring from character, with its ability to generate conflicts, plot and, finally - if well built - grab the reader's attention until the last chapter. This is a topic that is far from exhausted, both in academic studies tout court as the concerns of the writers involved in the daily "vain struggle" as stated by Drummond. These considerations lead Letras de Hoje, PUCRS, to dedicate an issue to this important theme, receiving new texts containing one of the following: 1. a theoretical-academic text concerning character and 2. a creative text (short story or novel chapter) in which the presence of the character is the triggering element of conflict.
Deadline for document submission: December 17, 2016
Publication Forecast: April 2017
