Queer and/or BIPOC Appalachian Ecocriticism--needed immediately
Submissions are currently being accepted for a scholarly collection of Appalachian ecocriticism edited by Dr. Laura Wright and Jessica Cory. A university press has shown interest in the volume and we are hoping to submit the manuscript to them by mid-August. We are in immediate need of essays in the range of 6K-7K words that focus on the intersections of queer and/or BIPOC Appalachian writers and ecocriticism/environmental literature.
The Appalachian region has largely been underrepresented in ecocritical studies, and this unique volume will represent Appalachian literature and its environment to the community of ecocritics and, more broadly, the scholarly community as a whole. However, to showcase the region as it truly is, the region's BIPOC and queer writers and scholars need to be highlighted.
Potential authors/works to analyze include Goodbye Gauley Mountain: An Ecosexual Love Story, Ann Pancake, Dorothy Allison, Silas House, Savannah Sipple, Carter Sickels, Tennessee Jones, doris diosa davenport, Nikky Finney, and many others.
All submissions must be original work and previously unpublished and in the range of 6K-7K words and formatted in Chicago. While proposals are acceptable, the final work must be completed no later than August 10. 2020. Documents should be in .pdf, .doc, or .docx format and emailed to firstname.lastname@example.org.
