The Martineau Society will be hosting its annual conference in Hull, England from July 24 to July 27, 2017.  The Martineau Society conference is an interdisciplinary conference that focuses on the lives, work, and contributions of the Martineau family, including its two most famous and influential members, Harriet Martineau (1802-1876) and James Martineau (1805-1900).

Started by Norwich Unitarians in 1994, the Martineau Society encourages scholarship on the Martineau family and their nineteenth-century context as well as their continuing influence.  Topics may include, but are not limited to the following:

We seek essays of 5,000 to 6,000 words for an anthology that explores American literature through the lens of social justice.  The volume will become a part of a popular literary series published by a major press.

The aim of this conference is to provide an open platform for prospective researchers for discussion of new advancements in Information Technology, big data analytics, development and applications using efficient techniques. We encourage researchers to submit original works which will enrich prospective researchers and provide novel and improved techniques based on some of the areas mentioned below, although not limited to these areas, since "research does not follow any boundaries”. Topics of the session may include, but not limited to, the following:
Big data analytics, development, applications
Software/hardware tools and techniques for big data management
Security issues for big data management

Il pubblico della poesia (Cosenza: Lerici), edited by Alfonso Berardinelli and Franco Cordelli, was published in 1975. It is the first anthology to consider the poetic generation that appeared after 1968. The novelty of these poets was characterised in three main ways: the interruption of the linear relationship with Tradition; the «tendency towards the fast dissolution of the sociocultural and ideological figure of the Author»; and a change in the literary field. As argued by Berardinelli in the introduction: «[...] The Self that produces poetic texts in these years no longer resembles that of the great tradition of the twentieth century, and probably not even that of the author’s fathers and older brothers of the preceding twenty years ».

Call for Papers for a Collected Volume of Think Pieces

From Aristotle to Emily Dickinson to Heidegger to Hans Blumenberg to Samuel Beckett to John Lewis, artists, thinkers, and leaders have conceptualized possibility. 

This is a proposed special session for MLA 2018 in New York City, New York. This panel will interrogate potential intersections between Digital Humanities and Critical University Studies in both theory and practice. Any combination of theory and practice that combines DH with Critical University Studies is welcome. Historical papers are also welcome.
