"Writing Hong Kong": Call for Submissions
1 July 2017 marked the 20th anniversary of Hong Kong's handover to China. This year also happens to be the tenth anniversary of Cha: An Asian Literary Journal. And so while we are immensely proud of the work from and about Asia we normally publish, we felt that to commemorate these two events it was time to take a closer look at the city we call home and love: Hong Kong.
We are, therefore, proud to announce that in December 2017 Cha will be publishing a special “Writing Hong Kong” issue, focusing on writing and art on/about this great city. Submissions of poetry, fiction, creative non-fiction and art will open on 1 July 2017 and close on 30 September 2017. If you have something original to say about Hong Kong, we would like to hear from you. Please note that we can only accept submissions in English or translated into English.
The Book Reviews section will be devoted exclusively to books related to Hong Kong. If you have a recent book that you think would be right for review in “Writing Hong Kong,” we encourage you to contact our Reviews Editor Eddie Tay at eddie@asiancha.com. Books should be sent to Eddie before the end of September 2017. If you would like to propose to review a book, a film, an exhibition, etc., please write to Cha‘s co-editor Tamara Ho with your idea before 31 August 2017.
