We are pleased to announce the 2018 Intermountain Graduate Conference. This year we are seeking a variety of papers around the theme of “Endeavor to Transcend,” which can be interpreted broadly across topics and perspectives. Generally, to transcend is to rise above weaknesses, limitations, conditions, boundaries, and mundaneness to achieve greater aims in many forms.

As examples, various approaches to our theme mightinclude:

·   Historical, artistic, or scientific methods to understand ideas beyond current thought

·   Unique intersections between genres or disciplines

·   Issues of transcendence in gender, racial, and cultural studies

·   Pedagogies that promote new thinking

·   Means of transcending limitations in musical theory or performance

·   Attempts to expand our understanding of philosophical questions

We welcome submissions from both graduate and undergraduate students in all disciplines. In addition, we would happily consider other forms of presentation, such as performance art, poster presentations, and readings of creative work.

Please submit a 300-word proposal to egsa@isu.edu by Saturday, January 19, 2018.

Undergraduate students should submit with their proposal a scanned signature from a professor who has reviewed the proposal or paper.

The conference is free and open to the public.
