A tradition for the last several years at MELUS, this panel focuses on expressions, representations, critiques, and/or celebrations of religion and/or spirituality in multi-ethnic American literature. We especially welcome presentations that incorporate the conference theme, “TransCulture” (see the general MELUS CFP for a description of the theme), but are open to proposals on any aspect of religion/spirituality in multi-ethnic literature. Papers inspired by the conference theme might consider a "broad spectrum of transcultural issues in multi-ethnic literature" considering the "concept of 'trans' as relating to that which moves across, beyond, or through, or which enacts a change." MELUS 2018 will take place May 3-6 at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. Please send a 250 word abstract along with your name, institutional affiliation, and email address to Rachel Luckenbill at rrluckenbill@seu.edu no later than November 8, 2017. The panel is organized and co-chaired by J. Stephen Pearson (University of North Georgia) and Rachel Luckenbill (Southeastern University).
