Edited Volume: Inscriptions and Extraordinary Forms of Writing in Medieval Literature This edited volume on inscriptions and inscriptionality in medieval literature stems from the Material Textual Culture Research Consortium at the University of Heidelberg. For more information about the project see:http://www.materiale-textkulturen.org/subproject.php?tp=C05&up= The volume assembles an international team of scholars (working on German, British, French, Italian, Old Norse, Ibero-Romance, Serbian, Latin, and Yiddish literatures) to investigate where inscriptions appear in various medieval literary traditions and how different material forms of writing are evaluated in and across cultures. Our project is invested in disrupting the nineteenth-century disciplinary boundaries that belie the heterogeneity and cross-cultural interactions of medieval societies in the so-called "West." Consequently we feel it is imperative that we include an Arabic perspective in this volume. We are looking for a scholar who would be able to contribute a chapter entry (10-15 pages) on where and what types of inscriptions appear in medieval Arabic literature, and how inscriptions might register in the medieval Arabic imagination. For more information contact, Dr. Christine Neufeld
