updated:
Tuesday, December 26, 2017 - 9:59am
SPECTRA
deadline for submissions:
Monday, January 15, 2018

‘Resilience’ has gained traction in recent discourses: whether the rise of nationalist/populist movements throughout many parts of the world, disastrous consequences of climate change, continuous debates around online security and network integrity, or the stresses of self-optimization under increasing economic precarization, resilience, so it seems, is produced as an ideal type to confront these conditions.

Issue 6.2 features an interview with Julian Reid, whose most recent work concerns modes of resilience and indigeneity.

SPECTRA calls for papers that critically engage with the notion of resilience by way of integrating theoretical, empirical, literary, and ethnographic research.

What were their stories? What was their process? How did they keep moving forward?

TWC Special Issue CFP: Fan Fiction and Ancient Scribal Cultures (6/1/18; 12/15/19)

Transformative Works and Cultures
deadline for submissions:
Friday, June 1, 2018

This special issue of TWC explores the potential of fan fiction as an interpretative model to study ancient religious texts.

Fan fiction writers are readers of texts who become writers of their own texts. Fans engage with the universe created by the makers of a specific series, film, or book, to which they refer as “canonical” material. For example, they create new storylines, “repair” plots they do not agree with (fix-it fic), write prequels or sequels, and fill in scenes that are missing.

deadline for submissions:
Thursday, November 30, 2017

‘Living Cities: Tropical Imaginaries’ reminds us that urban environments are both created and creative spaces. This Call for Papers is concerned with the peopled and lived experiences of cities and how these interact with built, natural and cultural environments. The CFP is interested in processes of tropical space and place-making, with an emphasis on key areas that make up lived cities in the tropics: creative economies, cultural and natural landscapes, aesthetics, urban myths and story making, sustainable practices, heritage, everyday life, community practices and liminal spaces.
