DEADLINE EXTENDED!!! Call for Papers for Trauma; 12th Issue of Watermark
Watermark, the annual, peer-reviewed scholarly journal published by graduate students in the English Department at California State University, Long Beach is seeking submissions for the twelfth volume. The journal is dedicated to publishing original, critical, and theoretical papers concerned with literature of all genres and periods, as well as representing current issues in the field of rhetoric and composition. As this journal is intended to provide a forum for enlarging voices, only student work will be considered.
All topics in these fields are welcome, and we strongly encourage submissions to coincide with CSULB's English Graduate Student Association Conference: Re/Inventions: Trauma. This theme welcomes papers that explore various notions of TRAUMA, including (but not limited to): emotional, psychological, physical, sexual, and mental traumas, traumatic experiences relating to notions of modernization, gender construction, race, imperialism, exile, artistic representations of trauma, neoliberalism, in addition to the traumatic effects of immigration/emigration, economic and social systems, and "otherness." Watermark is not limited to these ideas and encourages papers of all critical and theoretical topics that explore trauma.
The EXTENDED DEADLINE for submissions is Monday, February 19, 2018. Early submissions are strongly encouraged and will receive priority in the peer-review process. All submissions must include a 200-250 word abstract with the title of the essay and a cover page that includes your name, phone number, email address, area and/or period of the paper (i.e. 18th Century English Literature), and a short biography (no more than 2-3 short sentences). All submissions should be no less than 6 pages and must be typed in current MLA format with standard 12-point font. Please do not include your name in the essay document itself, as it will be reviewed by a blind peer-review panel. Please email papers and all other required documents as separate Word attachments with the subject heading "Watermark 2018." Submissions directed to: csulbwatermark@gmail.com
