Literature during the years between the World Wars reflected the angst, chaos, and turmoil of modernity.  Psychoanalysis gave rise to the diagnoses of "hysteria" and "Shell-shocked."  Individuals struggled with political and economic instability.  The Influenza pandemic spread fear as millions succumbed to the infection.  Artists captured this period of turbulent historical and cultural change through their prose and poems.  The Rocky Mountain Modern Language Association's panel on "English Literature since 1900" seeks papers that explore the connections of medicine, psychoanalysis, and science, in modernist texts.  Primarily, how does the artist use his/her personal relationships with doctors, scientists, and/or psychologists to create images that reflec

LURe Journal is an undergraduate research journal based out of the University of West Georgia in Carrollton, GA. We accept research on literature, film, cultural studies, and critical theory. 

 

Manuscripts should be no more than 20 pages in length, be formatted in Microsoft Word or as a Google Doc, and conform to MLA 8 citation style. 

 

Because of the blind review process, the author’s name and contact information must only appear in the email affiliated with the work being submitted. Please include current address, phone number, email address, and institutional information in your email as well.

This will be submitted as an “Innovative Proposal” special session.  Depending on the abstracts received, the final form of the session might take a Speed Geeking or PechaKucha format.  Please note that as a special session, our acceptance is in no way guaranteed and the process is highly competitive.  The deadline to submit special session proposals to the MLA Program Committee is April 1, and we would be notified of our status in early June.

The editors of The Irish Journal of Gothic and Horror Studies are now soliciting article and review submissions for Issue #17, due to be published in Autumn 2018. 

The Irish Journal of Gothic and Horror Studies (ISSN 2009-0374) is a peer-reviewed, interdisciplinary, open-access, electronic publication dedicated to the study of gothic and horror literature, film, new media, and television.

We are currently seeking submissions of articles and reviews that deal with any aspect of gothic and horror studies, including (but not limited to) literature, film, television, theatre, art and architecture, music, and new media. Please note that we cannot include pictures or sound files with articles or reviews.
