"Apocalypse: Performance and End Times"

Abstracts are being accepted for a panel at MLA 2019 in Chicago sponsored by the GS Drama & Performance Forums. What to do about the end of the world? In light of water shortages and climate change, of depleted natural resources and military proliferation, of anticipated second comings and desired new worlds, “Apocalypse: Performance and End Times” invites papers that consider what it means to perform apocalypse, to stage endings, and to re-conceive human flourishing. Papers are invited on any approach to apocalypse—from the mythical and religious to the social scientific and empirical—in any historical period. Send a 250-word proposal and brief CV by March 15 to Ashon Crawley (atc8g@virginia.edu)
