We invite scholars, educators, activists, and college students to help create Model UN simulations based off the comic book series The Black Panther. The goal is to create an online archive of Black Panther committee simulations that are made available at no cost to middle schools, high schools, and universities organizing their own Model UN conferences.

Those interested are encouraged to contact Roberto Sirvent at rdsirvent@hiu.edu. When contacting Roberto, please indicate one (or more) of the following that best describes you:

  1. I am interested in designing my own Black Panther simulation for a Model UN Committee (e.g. Special Political and Decolonization; United Nations Human Rights Council; U.N. Security Council; United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women; Social, Cultural and Humanitarian; Crisis Committee, etc.).
  1. I am interested in collaborating with one or two other people to create a Black Panther simulation for a Model UN Committee.
  2. I have experience designing Model UN simulations and would like to offer assistance to contributors designing a Model UN simulation for the first time.
  3. I have experience organizing Model UN conferences and would like to review/offer feedback to a completed project before its online publication.
  4. I am a big fan of the Black Panther comic book series and would like to review/offer feedback to a completed project before its online publication.
  5. I have connections with a middle school, high school, or college Model UN program and would be interested in using and/or promoting these Black Panther simulations in the future.
  6. I’d like to help design simulations that creatively connect Black Panther with other comic book characters (inside or outside the Marvel universe) -- especially from comics that center on characters of color (e.g. Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur, Abbott, Ms. Marvel, etc.).
  7. I don’t know how I can help but it sounds fun and important!

Our aim is to have an initial release of ten Black Panther Model UN simulations available by January 20, 2019. Please contact Roberto Sirvent with any questions: rdsirvent@hiu.edu
