The Norman Mailer Society invites proposals for the 16th annual Mailer Society Conferenc, to be held in Macon, Georgia in cooperation with Middle Georgia State University. The general theme of this year's conference will be Mailer and Place (encompassing the places he lived and worked as well as the places he fashioned in his fiction--georgaphical, metaphorical, philosophical, etc.), but please note that the Society welcomes proposals for papers and panels on any aspect of Mailer’s life and work.
To submit a proposal for a panel, individual paper, or special event, please e-mail the following to Maggie McKinley (mmckinle@harpercollege.edu): 1) a 50-word biographical statement; 2) a 150-200 word abstract of the proposed presentation; and 3) an indication of any media requirements. Proposals are due by June 1, 2018.
To accommodate all presenters, paper presentations should be approximately ten minutes. Two or three papers will be presented in one-hour time slots, with the remaining time going to participant discussion and audience questions. Fully developed papers can be submitted for possible publication in The Mailer Review.
$100 travel grants are available for students whose proposals are approved.
