Call for Special Panel on Charm and the Middle Ages and/or Renaissance
Deadline for Submission: June 30, 2018
This year, MAPACA (The Mid-Atlantic Popular and American Culture Association) will host its annual conference in Baltimore, which is known as "Charm City." In honor of this city's designation, the Medieval/Renaissance area is issuing a call for papers for a special panel revolving around the theme of "charm." From charmed objects and cities to charmed (and charming) people, charms pervade the Middle Ages and the Renaissance. This panel will investigate how modern works continue to deploy "charm" and the ways in which their use of this concept connects to the medieval and/or Renaissance eras. Please submit proposals of 300 words for this special panel to www.mapaca.net, indicating in the body of your abstract that you would like for your presentation to be considered part of the special panel. If you have additional questions, please feel free to contact the area's co-chairs, Mary Behrman (Behrm5@aol.com or mbehrman@kennesaw.edu) or Diana Vecchio (dmvecchio@widener.edu).
