Proposals are now being sought for review in the “Adaptation: Literature, Film, and Culture” Area. While the term “adaptation” most commonly refers to a film based upon or inspired by a novel (or the process of developing such a film), proposals for adaptations involving other media as source texts or final products are also welcome (for example, adaptations that involve art, theater, music, dance, television shows, video games, photographs, or comic books). Please direct questions pertaining to this area to Area Chair Amy Fatzinger, Ph.D., University of Arizona, fatzinge@email.arizona.edu. Topics for paper proposals include, but are not limited to:
· adaptations of classic works.
· theories of adaptation.
· representations of culture in adaptations.
· the process of adaptation.
· adaptation and audience engagement.
· adaptation and aesthetics.
· contemporary adaptations.
· source texts with multiple adaptations.
· cross-cultural adaptations.
· ethics of adaptation.
· adaptations across generations.
· adaptations and the film industry.
All proposals must be submitted through the conference’s database by November 1, 2018 at http://conference.southwestpca.org/. Proposals should be about 200-500 words in length.
