Iowa Journal of Cultural Studies - Reviews
The Iowa Journal of Cultural Studies, a peer-reviewed academic journal edited by graduate students at the University of Iowa and dedicated to publishing cultural studies scholarship from both established and emerging scholars, is currently soliciting book reviews for our upcoming issue: Reckoning With Appetite. The Deadline for Reviews is Friday, December 7th, 2018.
We are particularly interested in reviews of the following texts:
Jezebel Unhinged: Loosing the Black Female Body in Religion and Culture by Tamura Lomax (Duke, 2018)
The Blues Muse: Race, Gender, and Musical Celebrity in American Poetry by Emily Ruth Rutter (Alabama, 2018)
Slavery in the North: Forgetting History and Recovering Memory by Marc Howard Ross (Penn, 2018)
Sticky Rice: A Politics of Interracial Desire by Cynthia Wu (Temple, 2018)
Educated: A Memoir by Tara Westover (Random House, 2018)
Proposed reviews are not limited to these texts, but we do ask that reviews
be of material published within the last two years. Reviews should be
between 1,000-2,000 words and follow the style guidelines, found here:
