For every cultural object visible in an archive, there are hundreds of lost and forbidden bodies and practices pushed outside the limits of what is seen and studied. Forbidden, forgotten, erased, these works reappear in between the breaches of texts, practices, and images demanding to be heard and seen.

Call for Papers
6-9 JUNE 2019 - Trondheim, Norway
The society welcomes proposals for 20-minute papers on topics related directly or indirectly to the theme, or on any aspects of Cavendish, her work, her family (including William Cavendish, Jane Cavendish, and Elizabeth Cavendish) and her contemporaries, influences, and responses to her work. In particular, we invite panel proposals on the work of Anne Conway and other early modern women scientists and philosophers. Papers may explore, but are not limited to, the following disciplines:

The Postgraduate English Journal, Durham University’s Online peer-reviewed literary journal, is one of the longest-running online postgraduate literary journals in the UK. In recent years the journal has received reprint requests from academic publishers.
Early-career researchers/academics and postgraduates are invited to submit papers of 5,000–7,000 words (or book reviews of no more than 2,000 words) by Friday, March 1, 2019 for the journal’s 38th edition.
