Criterion: A Journal of Literary Criticism
Criterion: A Journal of Literary Criticism seeks original, well-researched, and intellectually rigorous essays written from diverse critical perspectives and about texts from any time period or literary tradition. Submissions are peer-reviewed by a selection board at BYU, and final decisions are made by the journal's Editors-in-Chief in consultation with a faculty advisor.
In our upcoming issue, we will be reserving a section of the journal to essays specifically interested in folklore studies. Submissions to both the general section and the special topic section should be between 3000 and 6000 words (not including the bibliography). All submissions should be double-spaced, written in English, and formatted according to the most recent MLA guidelines. Submissions should be uploaded as MS Word files through our website and online submission system.
We are currently accepting submissions. Any submissions between now and January 11, 2020 will be considered for our Winter 2020 issue.
The deadline for submissions to our Winter 2020 issue is January 11, 2020. Any articles submitted after this date will not be considered for publication in this issue.
