This 2019 annual meeting theme, “build as we fight,” reminds us that revolutions necessarily entail a double investment, both in negating domination and exploitation and affirming alternative forms of life. The theme also leaves open the possibility that the relationship between what must be built and what must be fought might be one of conviviality or convergence, rather than clear-cut opposition.

For a proposed volume celebrating The Complete Prose of T. S. Eliot, co-editors Jayme Stayer and Anthony Cuda are soliciting abstracts for original essays on aspects of Eliot’s work that pertain to his non-fiction prose. The volume will be dedicated to the General Editor of The Prose, Ronald Schuchard, to honor his influence in the fields of Eliot studies and modernism. As chairs of the Central / East / South European Cinemas Scholarly
Interest Group at the Society of Cinema and Media Studies (SCMS), we
are pleased to announce the fifth annual prize for an outstanding
published essay in the field of Central/East/South European Cinema and
Media Studies. Submissions will be judged by a panel of experts, and
the winner will be announced at the upcoming 2019 SCMS meeting in
Seattle. The winner will be awarded a cash prize of $500.
