The Indigenous Studies Area of the Midwest Popular Culture Association calls for papers, abstracts, and panel proposals for the annual Midwest Popular Culture Association/American Culture Association Conference.
Abstracts may address any aspect of Aboriginal, First Nations, Maori, Sami, and other Indigenous popular cultures. In addition, the area highly encourages comparative papers between Indigenous and, say, Asian, Latin American, Pacific Islander, or African popular cultures. Topics may address, but are not in any way limited to, the following:
Film and Animation
Video Games, Blogging, YouTube
Theater, Festivals, Spectacles, and Ceremonies
Panels should open with approximately 100-word theme before a 200-word abstract for each panelist. Individuals may only submit one paper, and please do not submit the same paper to more than one Area. Graduate students are invited to apply for competitively awarded travel grants from MPCA/MACA: http://mpcaaca.org/info/travel-grants/
Submit paper, abstract, or panel proposals (including the title of the presentation) on the Submissions website (submissions.mpcaaca.org) before or by April 30, 2019. Send questions and inquiries to the Area Chair, Anthony Adah at firstname.lastname@example.org
