Conference Panel: Medical Humanities
Panel Title: Medical Humanities: Theory, Scope, and Practice
Venue: 117th Annual Meeting, PAMLA, San Diego, CA from Thursday, November 14 until Sunday, November 17, at the Wyndham San Diego Bayside hotel.
This conference panel seeks to explore the scholarly and pedagogical prospects of the evolving field of medical and health humanities. Of especial interest are proposals that are truly interdisciplinary (rather than multidisciplinary); that have an experiential or activist focus; or that engage with pluralities of culture, language, identity, or belief. Proposals can examine texts, normativity/typicality (physical and mental), service learning practices, discourses involving health care access, or pedagogical approaches. Accepted papers may be considered for inclusion in a proposed edited volume of essays on Medical Humanities.
Must be a current member of The Pacific Ancient and Modern Language Association. To join, and for more information, go to https://www.pamla.org/2019. For the entire conference Call for Papers, go to https://pamla.ballastacademic.com/home/cfp .
