This poetry session welcomes creative submissions on any aspect of the SAMLA 92 conference theme: Scandal! Literature and Provocation: Breaking Rules, Making Texts. This session aims to feature all types of poems and poets; poems that break rules or are about people breaking rules are especially welcome! By June 1, 2020, please submit a sample of original poetry that fits the conference theme (3-5 poems, 10 pages max), a brief bio, and any A/V requests to Sara Pirkle, University of Alabama, at sbpirkle@ua.edu.
What methodologies and/or texts best help us make sense of our current bodily relationship to health, illness, and medicine? Papers utilizing posthumanism, new materialism, feminist science studies, or other philosophical tools are welcome. All literary genres and time periods will be considered.
This cfp is purposefully broad; the focus of the panel(s) created will be more specific.
Submit 250- to 500-word abstracts and a CV, by March 15, 2020, to Tana Jean Welch, Florida State University College of Medicine, at tana.welch@med.fsu.edu
The Cincinnati Conference on Romance and Arabic Languages and Literatures is the oldest graduate students conference in the United States. It has run uninterrupted since 1980, with panels on all aspects of Spanish, French, Italian and Portuguese languages and literatures. In 2019 Arabic was added to the department and to the conference. By 1983 the conference was attracting more than 200 presenters annually, currently we only accept 120 papers to make it an enjoyable and intellectually satisfying experience.
This traditional session welcomes submissions on any topic associated with Medieval England and its texts (400-1500 CE). This includes texts written in Old English, Middle English, Latin, Gaelic, etc. Abstracts addressing the conference theme of "Literature and Provocation: Breaking Rules, Making Texts" are especially welcome. By June 1, 2020, please submit an abstract of 200-300 words, a brief bio, and any A/V requests to Nathan Fleeson at nfleeson@uga.edu.
The Comparative Literature Student Association (CLSA) at San Francisco State University is accepting submissions for the
Spring 2020 edition of the literary journal Portals.
Portals is San Francisco State University’s global journal for scholarship in comparative and world literature. We publish student research, both from San Francisco State University and from universities around the world. Past volumes may be accessed at http://portalsjournal.com/. We will publish our more recent publications, including this year’s submissions, on this website.

The ATHE Religion and Theatre Focus group invites current graduate students and/or independent scholars who have not presented at a major national conference to submit papers for the 2020 Emerging Scholars Panel.

The Katherine Anne Porter Society is pleased to announce an annual Graduate Student Paper Award. Interested applicants should submit an article-length (15-25 page) paper on any Katherine Anne Porter topic. The winner, which will be announced on December 1, 2020, will be invited to present a shortened form of the paper at the annual Katherine Anne Porter Society Session at the American Literature Association Conference and will be featured in an article of the Katherine Anne Porter Society Newsletter. 2020 Thoreau Society Graduate Student Fellowship
The Thoreau Society is pleased to announce its second annual graduate student fellowship. The 2020 Thoreau Graduate Student Fellow will receive an award of $1,000 for travel and Thoreau-related research in greater Boston area, plus free attendance at the 2020 Thoreau Society Annual Gathering in Concord, Massachusetts. (Attendance at the Annual Gathering is not required and will not be factored into the fellowship committee’s evaluation.)
