Watermark, the annual, peer-reviewed scholarly journal published by graduate students in the English Department at California State University, Long Beach, is now seeking submissions for its fourteenth volume. The journal is dedicated to publishing original, critical, and theoretical papers concerned with literature of all genres and periods, as well as representing current issues in the field of rhetoric and composition. As this journal is intended to provide a forum for enlarging voices, only student work will be considered.

We will begin accepting submissions on Monday, December 9, 2019. The deadline to submit an essay or review for consideration is Monday, March 9, 2020. All submissions must include a 250 word abstract and cover page that includes your name, phone number, email address, essay title, and short biography (no more than 2 sentences). All submissions should be no less than 6 pages and must be typed in current MLA format with standard 12-point font. Do not include your name in the essay document itself, as it will be read by a blind peer-review panel. Email papers and all other required documents as separate Word attachments, with the subject headings as “Watermark 2020.”
