The Journal provides a platform for publication in the humanities and related disciplines.
The 118th annual conference of the Pacific Ancient & Modern Language Association (PAMLA) will be held from Thursday, November 12, to Sunday, November 15, 2020, at the Sahara Las Vegas Hotel, Las Vegas, Nevada.
Strategies for Teaching Climate Change in the First-Year Writing Classroom:
This session investigates the teaching of climate change themes, focusing on the first-year writing classroom. It will invite instructors whose courses have incorporated these themes to share their pedagogical strategies with those who are new to the use of climate change themes or who would like to improve their existing pedagogy.
The ongoing COVID-19 pandemic has radically altered all aspects of society in North America and around the globe, including higher education. The Modern Language Association Committee on the Status of Graduate Students in the Humanities invites short reflections from graduate students on how this situation has affected the core aspects of their scholarly lives––from coursework and teaching to research projects and dissertation defenses––as well as the impact on their broader selves: personal well being, physical and mental health, familial and domestic responsibilities, financial and living situations, and any other repercussions of this crisis.

Chapter proposals are invited for an edited book called Coronavirus, Climate Crisis, and Eco-anxiety: Psychology of Pandemics, Global Heating, and Planetary Hope. Chapter proposals should explore the psychological dimensions of the threats to human health and survival posed by pandemics such as the coronavirus, as well as by the accelerating global climate emergency. To cover the global scope of these threats, we seek contributions from around the world. Confirmed contributions include:
