Call for Papers: At the Crossroads: Narratives of the Excluded Conference

We are pleased to announce a two-day international conference “At the Crossroads: Narratives of the Excluded.” In light of the COVID-19 crisis, the Conference will take place online. It will explore various methods of countering and transforming dominant discourses on a range of social issues and reflect on alternative ways of seeing and understanding things as well as presenting counter-hegemonic views of the world in various media.

We now invite proposals for 15-minute papers or three-paper panels (please title your email PAPER PROPOSAL or PANEL PROPOSAL). Possible topics include, but are not limited to:

  • marginalized voices in and outside the cultural texts
  • women in the world(s) of men
  • activisms of the Global North and the Global South
  • (in)visible bodies
  • queer discourses
  • narratives of conflict and resolution in various media
  • raising awareness, fighting propaganda
  • (non-)discrimination laws
  • between and betwixt privileges
  • words and art against/for oppression
  • doing gender, seeing gender, being gender

Please submit your proposal (300 words or less) and a short biography (200 words or less) by email to Anna Oleszczuk and Agata Waszkiewicz at acnec2020@gmail.com by 20 August 2020.

All presentations will be released on the conference website (AtTheCrossroadsConference.com) during the week of the conference and each is going to have their live Q&A via Discord. We will accept presentations in the form of: text with pictures (about 1400 words and no more than 10 pictures), video, or PowerPoint with voice-over.

Please indicate which form of presentation you would like in your proposal as well the time zone you will be presenting from (some of the conference will be delivered synchronously).

Presenters will be invited to submit their papers to a peer-reviewed journal to be published by September 2021.
