EXTENDED DEADLINE- British Association for American Studies 2021 Digital Conference

deadline for submissions:
December 15, 2020
full name / name of organization:
British Association for American Studies

We are excited to announce details for the British Association for American Studies’ 66th Annual Convention — its first to be hosted entirely remotely. The conference is scheduled to take place from April 6-11, 2021. We hope that this digital format will allow participants from a wider geographic range to participate, as well as those normally prevented from participating due to budgetary constraints.

We welcome scholars from all disciplines and time periods whose work engages with the culture, politics, society, and history of North America, the United States and the Americas more broadly. Proposals on any aspect of American Studies are welcomed, but we particularly encourage proposals that engage with issues of sustainability and environmental studies as this online conference is part of our 'Green BAAS' agenda.

  • While individual paper proposals will be considered, proposals for fully-formed sessions are preferred. We encourage innovative and experimental panel/session formats which take into consideration both the possibilities and the limitations of remote conferencing, and are designed to engage audiences in live discussion and interaction.
  • Please send paper abstracts or panel proposals to the BAAS conference account at conferencesupport@baas.ac.uk by December 15, 2020

More details about plenary speakers etc will follow soon. You may write with questions to either the conference account or to the conference manager, Dr. Suzanne Enzerink, directly (suzanne_enzerink@alumni.brown.edu)
