Journal of Black Mountain College Studies
Call for submissions to the Journal of Black Mountain College Studies (Spring 2021)
We solicit and welcome your submissions of academic articles, essays, reviews, poetry, images and forms of artistic expression. As an interdisciplinary journal, we aim to represent authors and creators from diverse backgrounds, disciplines, and perspectives, and we are open to any format that can be expressed online.
Right now, we are especially interested in receiving work about aspects of Black Mountain College that have not been given much attention or that deserve another look. This might include little-noted fields of teaching and the professors that worked in them; or the lives and careers of particular graduates; or new takes on how the avant-garde nature of BMC is being expressed in contemporary work. We hope to publish a volume on this topic in May.
Send us an abstract of something you are working on or have completed, so we can have an idea of what you are thinking of submitting. Submissions of contemporary creative work should include a clear description of how the work connects to Black Mountain College’s legacy.
The Journal is an open-access online journal only. Authors retain all rights to their individual work. Previously published work is also considered. You may review past issues and additional contributor guidelines here: https://www.blackmountainstudiesjournal.org/
Submissions or questions can be sent to Carissa Pfeiffer and Thomas E. Frank, JBMCS Co-Editors, at firstname.lastname@example.org.
