Reconsidering Sir John Harington, RSA Dublin 2022
RSA Annual Meeting, March 30 – 2 April 2022
Sponsored session (English Literature discipline)
The setting of the RSA 2022 conference in Dublin provides an occasion to reconsider the life and work of Sir John Harington, whose own relationship to Ireland was—like his written works—often incoherent, inextricably bound up with complex systems of patronage, and subject to widely varying interpretations. This sponsored session seeks papers on any aspect of Harington’s life and work, such as his monumental translation of Ariosto’s Orlando Furioso, his notorious treatise The Metamorphosis of Ajax,or any of his published and unpublished writings and translations. All critical approaches and methodologies, including comparative approaches, are welcome.
To propose a paper, submit an abstract (150 words maximum) and a short CV to Joe Ortiz (email@example.com) by August 1.
