Creative Writing in the [Post-] Pandemic
This panel invites creative writers to reflect on what it has meant to write during a pandemic and to read their own pandemic (or post-pandemic) work.
By the time we meet at NeMLA 2022, the pandemic may be a distant memory of a strange but finite time period; or it may still be with us. One thing is clear: the pandemic has altered our lives in ways creative writers may be grappling for years to come. For many of us during the time of Covid, the social interactions that are the stuff of fiction, the keen observations of the world that inform poetry, the events that feed creative nonfiction—all shrank to the size of our own four walls. The panel asks creative writers to revisit their pandemic experiences in whatever literary forms or genres will express their perspectives.
